In an updated and re-focussed series, I'll be exploring how the advertising industry is changing at a rapid pace.
Gone are the days of big, overt, one-way consumer messages. "BUY NOW!" just does not work anymore.
Instead, advertising is now a two-way dialogue. People talk about companies 24/7 now, in all kinds of places, and that talk hangs around forever on the web. That means companies have to be more delicate in their messages, more collaborative, and they have to build relationships like never before.
That's the focus of the new series. It's not about selling, it's about influencing the conversation with creative ideas.
And I'm on a hunt to uncover the best marketing stories that chronicle this new era. Plus, "influence" works both ways. Not only do advertisers try to influence purchasing decisions, but the advertising industry itself is influenced by outside forces.
